Q: Do you offer blocks of hourly support?
A: Yes. Our UNIX consulting support blocks are priced as follows:
- $65.00 1-4 hours
- $300.00 5 hours
- $500.00 10 hours
- $1000.00 25 hours
- $1750.00 50 hours
Q: How many UNIX Administrators do you have on staff?
A: MarZ Consulting has 5 very senior level administrators on staff.
Q: Do you provide parts replacement?
A: We generally work with the hardware vendor to purchase replacement parts
or to get parts under warranty. Once the replacement parts are onsite and
inserted by a member of your staff under our guidance, we then take over
and re-integrate the new cpu, disk, or memory module. Whatever part needs replacement
we identify the faulty part, get it ordered and get it installed and reintegrated
into the systems OS. Our log monitoring service will give us advance notice
that a part is failing so it can be replaced during off hours.
Q: Do we have to get the console server and remote power management device?
A: No, if you chose not to use console servers we can still support you
but we may need onsite eyes and ears for when a server is in a maintenance state.
Q: Will we be able to use the console server and remote
power management device or is it just for use by MarZ while providing
support?
A: The console and remote power management devices can be used by anyone
you wish. They are secure devices using heavily encrypted communication
channels. MarZ will configure the accessability of the devices to
suit your needs.
Q: Do you support other operating systems like Microsoft?
A: Yes and no. We can and do monitor and graph Microsoft servers as well
as provide secure console access to those servers but our expertise is
in UNIX and Linux based systems. Alerting, monitoring and performance
graphing are all still provided.
